Ayat-ayat cinta is a novel which was written by Habiburrahman which tells a story of an Al-Azhar successful student, Fahri who married to a German girl, Aisyah. This married made many Indonesian women Al-Azhar student got frustrated. After sometimes of marriage Fahri was accused of raping an Egyptian girl whose name was Nora. Fahri was imprisoned.

His wife Aisyah tried to save Fahri by using Indonesian lawyer. She also attempted to look for Maria, Fahri’s neighbour , who knows Fahri and Nora very well. Maria was hit by the real raper of Nora. Which caused Maria to be in komma. Maria became weak and weaker for she was sick long before that. Aisya asked Fahri to marry Maria. Because she knew if Fahri married to Maria, Maria would be conscious.

Fahri married to Maria and she could get her health again. In the court she witness what she knew about Fahri. At last Nora confessed that she was not true and Fahri was released.

Fahri and his two wifes lived together. After sometimes when Aisyah was pragnent, Maria was very ill. She entanded to converted to Islam. She wish to pray together behind their husband. When they pray together Maria passed away. At last Aisyah and Fahri live happily together.

Location and place setting in this film doesn’t show the reality of story. The nile river in the film is not real for it is very small. The Arabic language that it used in the film is very bad. And the acting of some characters are not satisfactory. The film is not as good as the novel.

The lessons in this film are quite a lot.
